Jubilee Beach, which opened in July 2002 with the improvment of the town's flood defenses, stretches from Southend Pier to Thorpe Bay. The beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts and there are boat trips to be taken. The Marine Parade is very popular with families and has a wide selection of eateries, shops, and amusements for the children.
